Bancroft family meeting with Murdoch on Monday

Cory Bergman June 2nd, 2007

The NY Times has an interesting piece that outlines how the Bancroft family, which controls shares of Dow Jones and the WSJ, have agreed to meet with Rupert Murdoch to discuss his offer to buy the company. Hours after the family agreed to meet, Christopher Bancroft said he didn’t realize the agreement would effectively put the company up for sale. “All I said is that we’d meet with him,” he said. Bancroft tried to convince others to retract their statement, but it already leaked to the press. The meeting will happen at Monday at noon.
