NBC’s loss and CNN’s gain. I was very disappointed in Campbell not getting Katie Couric’s job.
3. Anonymous | June 20th, 2007 at 12:52 pm
She should have gotten the NBC weekend anchor job instead of Lester Holt. I guess that “black” trumps “female” every time at NBC.
4. Steve Garnett | June 23rd, 2007 at 10:05 am
Campbell should have been side by side with Matt Lauer. She is MUCH better than Meredith Viera. The Today show is not the same and could use her youthfulness. Plus she is hotter than Meredith… That slight lisp is HOT!!
5. Jane Glenn | June 26th, 2007 at 8:53 am
Yes. She should have been the co-anchor with Matt. No chemistry between and Meredith and Matt. Plus the Today show is now all fluff.
6. Joan Andruszkewicz | June 27th, 2007 at 8:33 am
Don’t agree with some of you. Yes, I like Campbell Brown, too, but I think Meredith is great and I do think she and Matt have good chemistry.

bummer to hear she is leaving nbc liked watching her on the weekend today show, i believe lester and herself make a great team.

Another blunder by NBC. Campbell Brown is excellent. Her coverage of New Orleans was outstanding and should have earned her Meridith’s position. I will look forward to seeing her on CNN. Big loss for NBC. Who is making these decisions?
14. r jackson | July 20th, 2007 at 9:44 pm
Congrats, Campbell!!! I love watching her than Meredith! I thought she is better….anyway, I can’t wait to watch her future show! Go Rangers!!!
15. rhanigan | July 21st, 2007 at 10:50 am
Just when I thought NBC couldn’t get any worse they make another bad decision like this. I congratulate Cambell on the move. She’s getting out of a bad situation and a bad network.
16. J.B.S. | July 22nd, 2007 at 6:09 am
I don”t know what NBC is thinking, This really is bad for them
17. Steve | July 22nd, 2007 at 6:17 am
I, too, thought Campbell should have received the spot that Katie vacated on NBC TODAY. I guess her not renewing her contract with NBC is her way of telling them that as well. I just saw her last broadcast on TODAY-Weekend, and she is a true professional in the way she handled it — I look forward to seeing her on CNN
18. Vicky | July 22nd, 2007 at 6:40 am
Wonderful news for Campbell and CNN! Major loss for NBC which continues to lose one great person after another. Campbell should have gotten Katie’s morning spot. Meredith is great, but on The View. She doesn’t fit in on the Today Show, zero chemistry with Matt. Campbell and Matt had great chemistry, oh well……
19. SSS | July 22nd, 2007 at 6:49 am
Too bad NBC keeps losing the best. The Today Show is going downhill fast. Campbell is very professional and good looking. A great combination. I will now watch CNN

NBC News is losing an excellent professional. Campbell Brown is truly one of the good ones. Oh well NBC loss, CNN gain.

My family is sorry to see Campbell leave. We wish her luck. We also think that she should have gotten KC job when she left the today show. She will be missed. NBC what were you thinking?????????????????????????????????????
23. Lucy | July 22nd, 2007 at 7:12 am
Wow I can’t believe it one of the only reasons I still had a little faith in NBC and now she is leaving . What is happening to this network get her back and give her what ever CNN is offering her. We need strong intelligent and witty women on the air!
24. Les | July 22nd, 2007 at 7:13 am
Bye Campbell - hope you do better on CNN - but if I had a choice between her, Merideth or Ann Curry - well Ann Curry is the BEST!! imho. She should have gotten the Today co-host job. She’s an amazing woman in every aspect of news and personality! NBC WAKE UP - bring Ann Curry into “our/your” world - she’s does great with Matt - and she deserves MORE than boring Dateline!
25. samantha | July 22nd, 2007 at 8:17 am
I USED to be a loyal NBC viewer, Today with news of Campbell Brown leaving to CNN is the last straw. God knows what is going on at NBC but they are not listening to their viewers….Meridith was a bad choice, Ann C. or Campbell would have done a much better job. I plan on sticking with ABC and CBS and CNN….NBC WHO?….
so passe
once a fan…
26. Jean | July 22nd, 2007 at 11:24 am
So long NBC. I will not watch Today or Weekend Today any longer because of the injustice done to Campbell Brown. I was so hoping that the network would keep Campbell as she is the only good thing they have right now. The Today show is boring, Weekend Today was great with Campbell and Lester. Campbell, all the best with your career and personal life.
27. Alex | July 22nd, 2007 at 11:27 am
Zero points for NBC. I’m a Fox viewer now.
28. Dman | July 22nd, 2007 at 2:25 pm
Merideth is to up in age for the Today show. Entertainment requires young, tall and good looking woman to host a show let that. Campbell was the one for that position. NBC’s big loss!!
29. Bev | July 22nd, 2007 at 4:17 pm
I thought I was the only person who didn’t think Meredith was right for the Today show! I gave her a chance, but she just doesn’t have what it takes. NBC will have her a long time with the money they are paying her. I thought all along Campbell should have been given Katie’s job, although I really miss Katie and Matt together! NBC needs to get it together! I am a GMA watcher now!
30. isabel | July 22nd, 2007 at 4:21 pm
So sorry to see Campbell leave. I think her and Lester were great together, but you can’t blame her for wanting to do something better than weekends. She’ll be miss.
31. Zoegirl | July 22nd, 2007 at 4:26 pm
Your competitors are discussing real issues not Britney Spears or any other spoiled brat (ie. Paris Hilton) wasting air time or MY time. I think Matt is great but he needs to insist on more serious stories. Meredith? I could leave her with no problem. Ann Curry is good and I enjoy her work. Lester and Campbell together? Great team - NBC you’re going down the perverbial toilet and this girl isn’t going with you. Matt, Lester, Ann and Al, I’ll miss you. I’ll be checking out the other stations.
32. Will | July 22nd, 2007 at 5:13 pm
I am glad to see Campbell go. To me she did not have what it takes. I stopped watching Weekend Today because of her. When Brian Williams is not on the Nightly News and Campbell was I changed to so;me one else. To the person who is prejudice, it is sad that in todays world when a black person gets a job over a white person it is because of the color of their skin and not their qualifications. Racism in America still exist and affirmative action is dead. Blacks have to be qualified to get any thing in todays world because the courts have said any other way is illegal.
33. Anita | July 22nd, 2007 at 6:05 pm
Loved Campbell and especially with Lester on weekend Today…I understand her planning for time with her child …wonderful news, but I think she has proven herself in reporting the news and she would have been “better” on NBC evening news…Williams does not have her charisma…I wish her the very best.
34. BAS | July 22nd, 2007 at 6:31 pm
Goodbye nbc meridith i s terrible
35. Mike | July 22nd, 2007 at 6:43 pm
Good Luck, Campbell. It is truly sad the network “let” someone like you go. After all you have given through the years to the organization, it is very sad that your true abilities are not seen by those in control of NBC. Why is it that we in this life can’t recognize what we have, as we are always looking for what we think may be better. Look at Katie C’s situation - anyone think she’s second guessing herself? Campbell, we will miss you!
36. Joan | July 22nd, 2007 at 7:02 pm
Campbell will be missed. The chemistry between her and Lester was fantastic. My weekends will no longer include NBC in the morning.

38. Anne | July 22nd, 2007 at 7:07 pm
The transition from Katie to an anchor whom we already knew, such as Ann Curry or Campbell Brown, would have been so much easier than having to learn to accept Meredith. Meredith was great on the view…..but I find her misplaced on ToDay. She does not have the hard interview skills of Campbell Brown. What was NBC thinking……and why did they make the viewers work so hard to transition to an outsider who was not even familiar with the early morning format. Sorry…but I find myself drifting to Morning Joe or CNN. Perhaps these early morning shows have run their time. After the hard news opening, which I usually turn to, It is just fluff……followed by fluff. Not interested. NCB goofed, Campbell is a pedigree who has found a classier home.
39. Mary Roser | July 22nd, 2007 at 9:54 pm
I have never been so disappointed in all of my life.
Why doesn’t the net works consider the viewers
when making changes? I think Lester Holt should be
one of the top persons in broadcasting at NBC. (No, I
am not black either). The biggest mistake you have ever made was not replacing Katie Couric with Campbell
Brown or Ann Curry. Someone said that Matt Lauer did
not want Ann as a co-anchor. Well, that is too bad!!!!
Why not let him go, and keep the deserving people
already there? oh well, I can always watch Campbell on CNN. So long NBC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to see Cambell leave. She and Lester made a great team. I thought that Ann Curry should have taken KC place. She is certainly had it all over KC. I also hope that they keep Natalie Morales. She and Ann Curry are the reason I am still watching NBC today.
43. Kate | July 23rd, 2007 at 9:04 am
I will miss Cambell Brown on Weekend Today. I think this will be a good move for her and maybe she won’t have to travel so much for NBC. I love Meredith on the Today show. She has a lot of warmth and she is down to earth and fun. Ann Curry is too “in you face” for me. If she had gotten the KC job, I wouldn’t be watching. I wouldn’t mind seeing Lester Holt as the Today show anchor. He is great. I wish Campbell all the best.

45. Rose Moore | July 23rd, 2007 at 10:51 am
She and Lester Holt were one of the best teams (plus their colleagues). Lester should have gotten the job now occupied by Bryan Williams, and Campbell should not have been overlooked in favor of another “vanilla” personality.
I wish Campbell luck in her new job; it will draw me to CNN which I haven’t often watched lately. On top of her true journalistic talent and warm connection with people… I bet she’ll be a fantastic mother too!
46. Theresa Gorman | July 23rd, 2007 at 11:53 am
I was so sad to hear that Saturday was Campbell’s last today show. I loved Lester and Campbell together - they made a great pair.
47. Ellen Blake | July 23rd, 2007 at 12:24 pm
Campbell, I will certainly miss you on Week-end Today. I love you and also love Lester! You two are a fantastic team. I was surprised and saddened to hear your announcement yesterday! I will certainly look for you on CNN. This is a big loss to NBC. Good luck with your new position and best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy and the upcoming birth of your child.
48. Jill | July 23rd, 2007 at 1:36 pm
I am sad to see Campbell go and wish her all the best. I think her and Lester were a great team together on Weekend Today. I’m hoping to see Natalie as her replacement. I just love her!! Much better than Ann and Meredith.

I was disappointed to hear Cambell Brown is leaving NBC and agree that Cambell may have been a good choice for the Today Show with Matt. But those of you who think Ann Curry might have been a good choice — what are YOU thinking??? Ann Curry can’t get through an interview without stumbling over herself — she is terrible!!!
52. Dee | July 24th, 2007 at 5:54 pm

so talented, they should never have let
her go.
53. Anonymous | July 25th, 2007 at 11:08 am

57. JOAN | July 26th, 2007 at 6:37 pm
I’m glad she is leaving NBC. She was not the nicest person on the show with Lester Holt. She loved to “put him down” which I do not not think a co-host should do.
She seemed so upset when she made her announcement that she was leaving NBC and the next day she says she has signed with CNN. Well, they can have her and Lester Holt will be much better off without her and so will NBC. I also think that Meredith is a waste on the today show; Natalie is much better; as is Ann Curry.
58. Stephen McClintic | July 27th, 2007 at 9:34 am
Campbell Brown was such a breath of fresh air. No wonder NBC has such poor ratings. They should never have let her get away.
59. Charissa | July 27th, 2007 at 1:09 pm
Oh my gosh! I thought I was the only one who thought Ann Curry was a better pick than Merideth V. Do you wonder why Matt didn’t want Ann? She is smarter, more talented, more at ease, friendlier and cute, too. He was threatened by someone smarter than he!! Which wouldn’t be hard to be. Without the ear piece he is just a semi-pretty face. Good luck to Campbell. She will land on her feet and have plenty of viewers to watch. Lester Holt is always professional. We miss him here in Chicago! White or black or Asian - who cares… do they do their job and get the story right with a smile on their face. And be someone you can trust. NBC needs to get out of their New York offices and ask what the real people in the Nation are thinking!! What is Merideth’s background anyway?!?!? Yuck!!
60. peg | July 27th, 2007 at 5:33 pm
A real loss for NBC. Campbell is terrific and should have been wooed by NBC whether for the Today show or for just being a solid news person.
Meredith is fine on Today and probably Campbell needed a little more maturing into a role where where she would be seen as the “matron” of early morning news. Meredith has this role.
But NBC should definitely have given Campbell a strong viable option and not lost her. They need all the best people they can get.
Shame on NBC !

NBC’s loss, CNN’s gain. I loved her on the ToDay show with Lester. I agree, can’t stand Meredith. She does’nt fit in and no chemistry with Matt. She is so far up his &%$, it isn’t funny. Good luck Campbell. I guess I’ll give CNN a try, just for you.

What a loss but it was certain to happen. Campbell never could have landed the Today job because Matt was way threatened by her presence. He would not have let it happen .. and it didn’t! Too bad, she wou;ld have made him look better that MV does.

We think your approach to the news, is so relaxing for the viewer, and yet your smile, voice, and eyes command our attention, and every word you speak. I know we will tune in to see you, I promise we will..We love you..even tho we’ll never meet you, we’ll root for you..Go girl..Great success!!! MIke & family

Sorry to see Campbell go. Enjoyed watching her. I like Meredith- she is a seaoned professional without the Katie Couric ego. As far as people saying that Ann Curry should have been promoted- she is the worst interviewer ever. I’ve had to turn off the tv when she begins asking “How did you feel?” to someone who has suffered a horrible tragedy. Or she’ll finish their sentences… Take a deep breath Ann!

I wish Campbell all the best,

Sorry to hear Paula Zahn is leaving CNN, but great news that Campbell is taking over. Somehow Paula couldn’t get her Now show going in a journalistically pwerful direction that I thought she is capable of. Campbell on the other hand managed to stay on hard news even while sucessfully co-hosting the Saturday show with Lester. I am confident that Campbell will very ably replace Paula and will take the show to a new height. Good luck Campbell.

I have watched the today show since Katie joined Bryant. I really became a fan when Matt joined the team. I have also been to the Plaza on several occasions. The Today show has not been the same since they let Katie leave, an d it sure will not be the same without Campbell. I am not a great fan of Lesters, he is always on the air. Best wishes to Campbell and to CNN.

Ha, I tuned into NBC Today and wondered where Ms Giggles was. It was then I got curious and looked to see if she had indeed departed. I am delighted, I will now tune into the weekend show once again. Whoever thinks she should have replaced Meredith is an air head like Campbell. Tootles noodle head.

I am really sorry to see Campbell leave. I stopped watching the Today Show when Merideth came on board. I saw her interview Laura Bush and instead of sticking to the subject she tryed to make it political and I felt she was trying to drill our First Lady on something entirely different than the reason Mrs. Bush was there. Very disrespectful. Also she and Matt do not click. I’m sorry put she brings Matt down. I did watch the weekend edition because of Campbell and Lester. I might glance at it now on occasion if Lester in on and there is a good story. I do enjoy his weekend evening news. NBC messed up big time not putting Campbell or Ann in to replace Katie.
CNN you made the right choice.

Campbell Brown will certainly be missed. I agree, she should have been co-host with Matt Lauter. NBC has lost a good one!
93. Jan Stuart | August 16th, 2007 at 5:06 pm
What has happened to the TV news media? Campbell Brown was a true investigative reporter, was not afraid to ask questions, and you came away from the piece she was reporting on with a feeling that she got the truth of the story to us.
I wish her well on CNN and will watch her. I also pray her baby will be well. I do not like the way Amy acts or interviews and she already is acting like a “DIVA”. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME, NBC. You are losing your integrity.
94. Monica Wendell | August 18th, 2007 at 5:18 am
I am so sorry to have found out that Campbell Brown was gone from the Today Show (weekend edition). She was so refreshing and wonderful to watch. I will look for her on CNN. Does anyone know the whole story?
95. brenda | August 18th, 2007 at 5:56 pm
Shame on you NBC. What are you thinking?????? You let Katie get away….and Stone get away……now Campbell????? I loved Campbell and Lester on the weekends…..and Campbell or Ann would have been the perfect replacement for Katie if it had to be. I’m so disappointed………Why don’t you listen to your audience??? If Matt seems to be subdued on Today, it’s because Meredith “hogs” the spotlight. He is gentleman enough though to step aside and let us understand what it is that we DON’T like about her. Don’t send him away too.
My best to Campbell. I’ll be watching…..
96. John | August 22nd, 2007 at 6:47 am
I think the Today show suffered when Katie left
Now with Cambell leaving on the weekend Lester
is lost .I think matt and Meridth are tired toghether
Boo on you NBC. Good luck Cambell

I have missed Campbell these past few weeks on Today Weekend. I love Lester but it’s just not the same without her. NBC should have done whatever it took to keep her!
99. Claudia | August 25th, 2007 at 6:33 am
NBC loss. Cambell Brown is a very bright, lovely, and most important always happy, smilling. The best.

100. Holly | August 25th, 2007 at 6:57 am
I wanted Campbell to get the spot next to Matt, she is way better than anyone else on the show as far as women go, why did they have to bring someone new in when they already had someone great, I guess they lose this time.
101. Heidi | August 25th, 2007 at 7:02 am
I miss Campbell and I have never cared for Merideth, NBC has not been making very good choices, and Ann is great too. I too don’t understand why they needed to bring in someone new. I too like Lester and Matt, I think the men are great but when it comes to Merideth she just doesn’t have it. I’m sorry to see Katie and Campbell leave the show just doesn’t excite me anymore.
102. john m | August 25th, 2007 at 7:09 am
I was wondering what happened to cambell brown on weekend today when i came back to this country.i was shocked to find out she abonded ship . i guess nbc did not realize what a talented person she is.
103. Sandy | August 25th, 2007 at 7:17 am
I agree with most of you, MERIDETH SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will also miss Cambell, I will check her out on CNN
104. Pat | August 25th, 2007 at 6:23 pm
Is anyone at NBC seeing all of these comments. Everyone is right on!! Merideth is not only terrible, she is hardly ever there. Was that written into her contract? Ann is the only one left with class. Get a grip NBC!!
105. Myra From Miami | August 25th, 2007 at 7:52 pm
I too was dissapointed to see Campbell Brown leave the weekend today show. I was out of town when her last broadcast aired in July . I watched this morning and I thought the new co-host with Lester Holt did not have any chemistry at all . He and Campbell were great together.
I will now watch the Early Show with Maggie Rodriguez..
The Today Show is not the same-I agree Meredith Viera does not fit in with the others. I find myself swithching to the other early morning broadcasts.
NBC YOU BLEW IT!!!!
Good Luck Campbell- I will look for you on CNN!!!!
106. Marie | August 25th, 2007 at 7:58 pm
Campbell, I hope you will read this….I miss you on Weekend Today. You and Lester were great together! I wish you well and will watch you on CNN! NBC dropped the ball.
107. Sue | August 26th, 2007 at 7:09 am
I’ve looked forward to the Weekend Today show even tho I don’t watch the Today Show. Campbell Brown was a lovely, very professional young woman, an excellent journalist. I will look forward to seeing her on CNN. A bad decision by NBC!
108. Alyce | August 26th, 2007 at 9:26 am
Campbell, if you read this, my husband and I both miss you so much on the weekends with Lester. Good luck CNN! NBC’s loss - what were they thinking when they didn’t replace you for Katic Couric???
109. Carol | August 26th, 2007 at 1:49 pm
I am so sad to find out that Campbell Brown is no longer on NBC with Lester. You guys are a great team, just like Katie Couric and Matt Lauer! I can’t stand it when changes like this happens! I can’t tivo all of you at different networks
110. Carol | August 26th, 2007 at 1:56 pm
continuation from above comment…
Besides, the chemistry Canpbell had with Lester will never be the same. Lester Holt, is great and so are Matt, Ann, Al and Natalie! I do watch Katie in the evening and I think it’s great to hear the news from an intelligent woman. I never liked Meredith at The View (perhaps bec. that show has no class) but I’m getting used to her at the Today show.
111. Patricia | August 27th, 2007 at 6:53 am
Campbell should go to the top. She is a far better anchor than Katie, Meridith and the others. She does responsible reporting. I do miss her on the weekend show with Lester Holt (who also should be advanced in his field).
Campbell’s outlook on problems in the USA are in depth and sincere. Good luck to Campbell!
112. Shirley | August 30th, 2007 at 2:17 pm
Shame on you NBC. I have always watched the Today Show over the others and I loved Lester and Campbell on the weekends. Campbell was so sincere and has a great personality. She should have been picked for Katie’s replacement and I don’t blame her for going to CNN when she wasn’t picked. I love that she is having a baby and will be sure to watch her and her career from this point on. GOODBYE NBC….P.S. You may want to get rid of Meredith before you lose thousands more of your viewers.
113. Mike | September 1st, 2007 at 7:14 am
Wow !! Lots of comments on this subject. My opinion is that Campbell and Lester were indeed a wonderful pair together. I have no bones about my switching to CNN either. I think Katie made a very poor decision and Merideth made the best decision of her life. One looses, one wins. Katie, however felt threatened by Ann and it showed, while Merideth and Ann have become good friends even off the air. This has let Ann really blossom as the real professional and terrific person that she truly is. Still, it is a real shame about Campbell. Something should have been worked out.
114. Jane | September 1st, 2007 at 8:34 am
I love Campbell and wish she had been the replacement for Katie, or Ann Curry is great. Ann is much better than Merideth. Good luck with your new adventures. I will look forward to seeing you.
115. Mike | September 2nd, 2007 at 5:56 am
NBC was slimming down their staff at any rate and Campbell Brown’s departure, though unfortunate helps their aim along with the departure of John Seigenthaler, which sadly was not his choice. Both will land on their feet and NBC will go on as well.
116. deb | September 2nd, 2007 at 8:53 am
campbell and lester were great together. two of the hardest working journalists on tv. she’ll do well at cnn. if anyone should have been replaced, it should have been matt by lester. matt is a diva. lester is by far a better journalist and hard working professional. i like meredith. thank god they didn’t pick anne!
117. GLENDA | September 2nd, 2007 at 1:31 pm
CAMPBELL BROWN,
I WAS SO UPSET EVERY WEEKEND, WHEN YOU WASNT ON THE NBC MORNING SHOW , NEVER WAS THE SAME WITH OUT YOU THERE. YOU AND LESTER JUST MADE A WONDERFUL SHOW TOGETHER. YOU WOULDVE BEEN GREAT FOR THE TODAY. JUST WISHED YOU HAD WANTED THE JOB. AND I WAS SO EXCITED ABOUT YOUR BABY THOUGHT I WOULD GET TO FOLLOW ALONG THE WHOE 9 MONTHS. WE DONT HAVE CABLE WILL CERTAINLY MISS SEEING YOU .. YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL PERSON.
I KNOW YOU WILL DO WONDERFUL IN WHAT EVER YOU DO. JUST KEEP ME UP TO DATE AND LET US KNOW WHEN THE BABY ARRIVES
WILL MISS YOU

I’m very saddened by the loss of Campbell from NBC . I thought she and Lester really complimented one another. I wish her the very best both in her career and her personal life. Personally, I liked Katy and Matt as a team and was also sorry to see her departure. I feel as though I have lost some of my family members. I’m losing faith in NBC’s decisions of late as well as my interest in the show. I wish Matt, Lester, Al, Ann and Natalie the very best in the future and hope that NBC will soon “see the light”.

119. Nancy Denman | September 8th, 2007 at 7:10 am
I have been out of the loop all summer, so I did some surfing this morning to find out where Campbell is. To my HUGE disappointment, I find that she is gone. I have been a huge fan of NBC and the whole Today show family since Al was fat (excuse my humor) and it was Katie and Bryant. I start work before 7, so I look forward to the weekend editions. I absolutely loved Campbell. I have posed with Katie, Campbell, Matt, and Al over the years on every trip I have every made to the Big Apple! I was a committed viewer. It was definitely NBC’s mistake to hire Meredith and leave Campbell with egg on that beautiful face. I no longer try to sneak peaks of the Today show during the week at work, and will no longer bother watching it on the weekend. I will definitely tune in to CNN to follow Campbell’s shining star. Sincerely, Nancy Denman
120. Gloria W. Peaks | September 8th, 2007 at 7:33 am
Today show is not the same without Campbell Brown. I began looking after Labor Day to see when she was coming back. Today better get her back. They will lose in ratings if they think 4 hour show without her is going to win people over. I am 59 look like little 29 year old, with few gray hairs, and I take a break on my farm, I look to find some invigorating people, like Campbell to reenergize me in the morning. A few of us Moms have to llive our lives at home, working from day to night, painting our homes on the exterior, mending fences, and also find time to volunteer at our kids’ schools, and find interesting unmarried women,or women who don’t have children. Life changes, through death, or divorce, and we like to see people untouched by the scars.
121. MARTHA ADAMS | September 10th, 2007 at 9:45 am
WHERE IS CAMPBELL BROWN?WHY ISN’T SHE THE ANCHOR ON THE TODAY SHOW? SHE IS SUPER , SUPER GREAT. I REALLY WANTED PERSONALLY TO MEET HER ON THE TODAY SHOW. WHERE IS SHE NBC.
122. fran | September 10th, 2007 at 10:25 am
Just found out by going on the internet. Was on vacation the end of July and thought she was too. Have never missed any one in the news before except David Bloom. She and Lester were a great team. Bring her back or I am not watching.
123. ross | September 12th, 2007 at 7:59 pm
i cannot believe how stupid NBC is… first they let katie c leave for CBS now i have found all the detail on campbell leaving. katie needs to come back and campbell needs to stay, get rid of meredith, she S%^*S. i have been a loyal NBC watcher for decades and have been able to handle the transitions but this is getting ridiculous. i see now when campbell made her announcement we were on a road trip to ohio, knew she was pregnant and figured maybe she was on vacation or early maternity leave but have now put the pieces together. whats next ann curry and natalie morales bail out. i kinda miss alexis glick but i see she is on fox w/ niel cavoto, thats not a bad thing
124. Jan | September 14th, 2007 at 7:25 am
NBC just shot itself in the foot again … Campbell was class and substance, Meredith is fluff and so is the today show … Brian Williams is misplaced in his spot, Lester should be there … and look how they’ve changed tthe Live at 5 format it’s awful. What are you thinking ???????????????
125. Farrell Fouts | September 14th, 2007 at 4:40 pm
Wife and I also miss Campbell Brown, she is a great honest reporter. We also feel Merdith does not belong on the today show. Does anyone know when Campbell can be seen on CNN? I have watched NBC since my retirement 14 years ago. We now do a lot of channel switching, and hope to find a good network for morning news, Merdith is not the answer, and she is gone so much of the time. The others on the Today Show are okay, but think Anne should co-anchor. We will watch CNN when Campbell makes the switch. Farrell F
126. Trish H | September 15th, 2007 at 7:11 am
My husband and I really miss Campbell Brown. We have given up on Today and hope Campbell appears on CNN soon. We were very disappointed when she didn’t get the anchor spot when Katie left.

My hubby and I miss Campbell. She and Lester were a great team. Amy is ok, too, but she’s not Campbell. Unfortunately we live in rural woodsy area without cable and don’t watch enough TV to justify buying a dish package so our only option with rabbit ears is NBC. We wish Campbell well in her new job and as a mom.
128. Jane R. | September 17th, 2007 at 6:36 am
So sorry to see Campbell leave. She should have been given Katie’s job when she left. Meredith just doesn’t seem to fit. Ann is okay but she has a horrible interview style–she should stick to the news desk. They should make sure they keep Natalie she is the best of the lot. The whole show has gone downhill since Katie left. She is a hard act to follow and I loved her and Matt as a team.
129. Jeff | September 19th, 2007 at 10:29 am
I sure do not understand NBC letting this happen, Campbell was a great contributor to the Today Show.
Guess I’ll start surfing.

SORRY TO HEAR THAT CAMBELL HAD LEFT .I MISSED THE SHOW STATING SHE WAS LEAVING. I WISH HER ALL THE BEST. I WILL REALLY MISS SEEING HER SHE IS AWESOME. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEW BABY . I WILL HAVE TO WATCH CNN SO I CAN SEE HOW SHE IS DOING
131. Ada | September 23rd, 2007 at 6:38 am
This morning, I got up to watch the Weekend Today show. And did I get a surprise to see that Campbell was no longer on the air. I have been away from my weekend tv for the last month and a half. And when the annoucer did not annouce Lester Holt and Campbell Brown. I became curious, about the hidden reason as to why Campbell was not there.
Man, what a surprise. First Katie, and now Campbell, NBC I have been a loyal NBC watcher for almost 25 years. Now, I will have to rethink my Morning news.
Meridith has lost my loyalty to the Today show, but when I hear that Ann is co-hosting I watch. I am not impressed with Meridith. Meridith is hardly on lately. She works one week then off for 3 ????? Seems to me that she is on vaction more often than on the air.
Matt, is doing the same. He is not there more often than not when Meridith is there. Talk about not syncing together.
Lester and/or Matt would be much better co-hosting with Ann or if possible Campbell. They all have better work charisma than Meridith.
My wish is that Meridith goes back to ‘The View,’ and take over where Rosie O’donnel is leaving. There she will be more comfortable than NBC Today show. She is not working
NBC please wake up and see what the viewers are saying and don’t let those glorious ratings that have kept you number 1 for all these many years. Or you will be seeing, CNN, Fox, CBS, or maybe ever ABC take over once again.
Good luck Campbell with your new venture and you can count on me watching since NBC lost a valuable asset.

Good luck wth your fortcoming baby.

I wish Campbell well on CNN. I’m not a big fan. I enjoy Lester, his new cohost, and Meredith on the Today Show. I felt that Campbell shared her own opinions about stories a little too freely for a news reporter, and seemed to be a little arrogant at times.
135. Just M.E. | October 4th, 2007 at 4:29 pm
I couldn’t believe it when you were missing from the weekend news. I told myself you were just away on assignment. After several weeks without you I checked the internet and was sad to read you would no longer be working with Lester. Campbell the weekend news is not the same without you. You and Lester were a fantastic team. I look forward to watching you on CNN. Wishing you a Wonderful Pregnancy and a Happy Healthy Baby
Take care ,

Brown, Stone Phillips planning for Conan to take over Jay’s spot, I’ve heard lots of friends say they are through with NBC

139. pat | October 15th, 2007 at 3:31 pm
I like others truly miss Campbell..beautiful, bright, funny, and self-deprecating.
She was great in the field reporting, replacing Brian Williams on the nightly news and each weekend on the Today show. I like others feel she was probably too threatening to Mattie to replace Katie.
In reading others messages, many seem to enjoy ANN…I am not one of these people… She is much too narcissistic in her interviews..talks too much… has to let everyone know how smart she is…too touch feely…and appears to be disingenuous in her emotional response too others’ plight. I can see wny she and Meredith had to attend on Outward Bound program early in their tv relationship. I would not trust her either. It is all about her being the best and the smartest.
This was not the case with Campbell…what you saw is what you got…
GOOD LUCK CAMPBELL WITH YOUR NEW BABY AND YOUR NEW EMPLOYMENT, LOOKING FORWARD TO WATCHING CNN & YOU…..
140. maura | October 31st, 2007 at 6:51 am
I agree, NBC is NOT the same without Campbell. She was a definite draw on the weekends. I don’t enjoy the new host that is with Lester, or the latest ladies on the weekday Today show.
141. Pepto | November 3rd, 2007 at 6:00 am
I like Amy, was not a fan of Campbell. Meredith is also ok
142. Karen | November 5th, 2007 at 8:10 am
After a few Saturdays of no Campbell, I realized, she’s not on the show anymore - what happened? So, I Googled her and the Today Show. Thanks for the update.
She and Lester were such good hosts. I enjoyed the Today Show on the weekend, and how they bantered back and forth. What a shame. It’s all about going as far as you can sometimes, and I suppose that this is Campbell’s time. I was always very impressed when she was the anchor in Brian Williams’ place - “Campbell, good for you.” She did a great job - but I love Brian Williams. And I loved Campbell with Lester on Today.
In any case I wish her all the best of everything.
Happy holidays everyone!

CAMPBELL BROWN WOULD HAVE MADE AN EXCELLENT REPLACEMENT FOR KATIE COURIC. SHE HAS THE SPUNKY PERSONALITY THAT KATIE HAD. HER PERSONALITY WILL BE MISSED. MERIDITH HAS A VERY BORING PERSONALITY. THE SHOW IS NOT THE SAME.
146. AL | November 15th, 2007 at 1:28 pm
Such a dreadful loss to NBC, I was under the impression there was supposed to be an early November start on CNN, haven’t hear a bit of advertising or anything at all for that matter. Is the deal still on????
147. Mark T. | November 18th, 2007 at 7:21 pm
As the weekend hosts for “Today” Show Weekend on NBC I do not think (at this time - I could change my mind because I have before) that Amy Rodack has any chemistry at all with Lester Holt and as far as that goes I don’t fill like she is even the right one for that job. Something about her look just doesn’t convince me about what she is reporting about. Maybe I will become to like her better as time goes on. I think that Anne Curry should have replaced Katy Couric instead of Meredith - not because I don’t like Meredith because I do but I am a firm believer in senority and after working so long and so hard for one company that one should have a little bit of “rank & file” rights! Also, Anne Curry is a kind and compasionate journalist and she takes a great interest in each and every person thats around her and that is what I think that viewers like the most about a journalist that they watch day in and day out. Most of us want to see the human side of the news and there are only very few journalist in the whole world that add that compassionate side of themselves with as many of the horrible events that go on in the main stream media world today! I believe that is why so many viewers liked Katy Couric so well because she was that hands on type of journalist. Many times I would see her reaching out to touch those that she interviewed and when an interview was horrible or really sad you could tell that she showed sincere compassion for the individual or the horrible event that had taken place. The news about Campbell Brown answers what I needed to know. I was wandering where Campbell Brown had been lately! I thought that NBC might have sent her away on some wild assignment around the world somewhere or that maybe she had gotten married or went on an honeymoon or something like that. I think that NBC should have fought to keep her. I think that she also a very professional and an excellent journalist as well. I hope that her new job works out well for her at CNN. I suppose that she will be doing her show from NYC instead of Atlanta - who knows, she might like Atlanta really well if given the chance to live and work there for a while. The only thing that slightly worries me about her taking this job is that if you take a look at many of the other morning journalist you might notice that their working track record longevity has sometimes been very short lived. Oh well, maybe she worked out a deal with NBC that if it didn’t work out at CNN that she could possibly get her old job back at NBC. Even if she didn’t get her old job back at the news desk immediately I am pretty positive that they wouldn’t hesitate to hire her back as a correspondent to work on the road or something of that sort. Ok, I have ran my mouth long enough and I will get off of my soapbox now. I hope that everyone that reads this has a wonderful and happy day!!! Thanks for letting me vent…
Kind Regards,
Mark T.

I guess I’m way behind. Went on vacation for two weeks and it took two months to find out Campbell Brown was on another network. Who makes these idiotic decisions anyway? We just thought she was on assignment somewhere. Too bad NBC made such a bad choice not to keep her. It will be somelse’s gain down the road, but not CNN’s.
150. Anony | November 28th, 2007 at 11:05 pm
Campbell Brown is a moron, she tries to act “macho” when she asked Hillary tC. questions regarding the GOP and her interview w/ the campaign killers. That ugly smirk on her face while talking about it…… Look in the mirror, trying to “act” macho is a disgrace to watch & putting women down makes you look like a COMPLETE IDIOT doing it. I don’t like her. BTW, is she gaining weight? She looks chubby to me….. I can’t wait to NOT see her ugly, smirky face…. Get rid of her.
151. P | December 5th, 2007 at 3:18 pm
I thought Campbell and Lester were a good combination as well. But, I was on my way out as an NBC Today viewer because Matt and the rest are reporting tabloid news. Who cares about that trailer trash reporting on the Morning Show. I was never impressed with Meridith because she is not striking to look at nor is she exciting to listen to either. I stopped watching the View and Millionnaire because she is very boring. She jokes with Matt, but very corney jokes. GOOD BYE NBC…. You had a loyal viewer
152. Peggy H | December 5th, 2007 at 3:34 pm
I think Star Jones would be a better co-anchor than Meredith anyway because she is better to look at, and a better interviewer. Meredith is too opinionated and try to be patronizing. SHE IS NOT KATIE COURIC, but a wanna be. Get Meredith off the show and you will get your ratings up and your loyal viewers back. GET IT TOGETHER NBC. When Brian Gumbel left, that was the demise of the TODAY anyway. GOOD RIDDENS NBC and hello Good Morning America, (I’m Back..)
153. Maureen | December 13th, 2007 at 7:41 pm
Ok if Amy wasn’t bad enough , where in the hecht did you get Jenna from. She is brassy and that voice of hers. She is very full of herself and not at all attractive - she is a wanna-be kid. She isn’t professional at all. So let me put it this way - if Amy stays I stay, but if she is replaced by Jenna - I’m outta of here!! Campbell Brown’s leaving after you lost Soladad was bad enough. You need to find a quality person to be with a quality person, like Lester. I will be watching to see if I will be watching.

I was watching larry King Tues. night…when he announced that Campbell had given birth to an 8 pound boy….I was thrilled to hear the announcement….it has taken me all this time to find out any news about her….
I have watched the Today Show since the Dave Garroway days…and now…..I’m done with it…..All the good people have left…and the show has gone down hill….I can’t stand to watch it any more……All my favorites have gone so there is no reason for me to suffer through ..what you present these days…..
Good Bye …I’m going to another network….and CNN
Congratulations Campbell….I wish you all the best.

I have missed watching Campbell on the Today show and also filling in for Brian Williams when he is away on assignment. I cannot believe that NBC did not put Campbell in Katie’s chair, she would have been much better than Meredith. In fact we no longer watch the Today show because we cannot stand to watch Meredith, she is rude and interupts people when she does an interview. Not only that, she has no personality and is not even pretty to look at. She does not fit in with the Today Show group at all, I wonder who made the decision to bring her on anyway? Campbell Brown is young, smart and excellent at reporting a story, we miss seeing her so much. Good luck to you on CNN Campbell and congratulations on your baby! We will watch you on CNN. We will watch “Good Morning America” from now on because the “Today” show has changed too much and it’s not the same anymore!

I saw a piece, by Cambell Brown, last night, I think it was on MSNBC . It was called “Broken Government” or “Campaign Killers”. I loved it. She is really informative, without making herself part of the story. (That’s what I don’t like about Katie Couric. It’s always about “Katie”, no matter what her subject is.) Also, I (For the first time, since ABC started using Katie Couric on the 6:00 evening news), saw a man doing the news and I can’t remember his name, but he was really good and I will probably start watching ABC again. Thank God ABC didn’t let the little darlin’ Katie, be the motorator, for the debate. I would have just turned it off, if they had. Katie stinks and Cambell Brown rocks. Good Luck, Cambell Brown.

I’m really disapointed that Campbell has left the Today Show. I hope that she does well in her new opportunity. I watched her every weekend and have been wondering when she was coming back. Hopefully, I will get to see more of her in the future.
Kudos!!!!

I hate that Campbell Brown left NBC,I think she is a lot better
news reporter than Katie. She has natural class. NBC should
have done more to keep her.

Dear CNN: I’am a decades watcher of cnn. I Think Campbell Brown is a very beautiful (cosmetically) individual, and of course very intelligent. However her attitude toward the former president (Clinton), and more specifically Hillary Clinton comes across the air waves in a clarion manner. I have never seen CNN, and many many other groups come out so negative about this woman. We all know the history, she has seen, and had it all why is she being depicted as some villian, as one politician after another falls to scandal. I believe as many Americans , we are glad to have her in the world .I just don’t understand why such a smart person as Campbell Brown, can have such power to make me want to change the channel.
Sincerely, Anthony C. Sokoly

I was sitting on my couch this morning, watching the TODAY show, and it just dawned on me….where is Campell Brown? I googled it and found this website. I browsed through all the blogs, and realized she has been gone since last summer? Correct me if I am wrong. So, although I really liked Campbell, you can see how much of an impression she has left on me as it is now April, 2008, and I am just now questioning where she went. I like Meredith too, but when KC first left, I was dissapointed Ann did not get the position…but Meredith has grown on me!

Just wanted to give a shout out to Campbell Brown. You are terrific!

On your April 9 show you suggested your panelists of ganging up on Hillary after you asked them to comment on her campaing progress - Come on … unless you are a Hillary supporter and using CNN to promote your support for her… We have to be fair here

Peter,
I have to say I think she is “a Hillary supporter and using CNN to promote your support for her.” After the compassion forum she made of a number of comments suggesting that Hilary was a superior candidate. I wonder too, did you notice anything during the forum? Like how open and pleasant with Sen. Clinton she seemed. That she gave her a pass on sniper fire, the Ireland treaty, 10 million “blue collar” dollars, NAFTA support, etc.?
I thought she did a good job keeping things moving at a good pace and making sure lots of different questions were asked. She also did a good job of putting Obama through some paces. But it sure came across to me that her expressions and demeanor were hostile-lite. She did not give the lines before and after the “bitter” comments; and on the question of euthanasia she interjected her interpretation of his response and attempted to put her words in his mouth. Of course, it is her right to be a Clinton supporter. But at the very least, she could acknowledge it privately rather than “misspeak” it publically.

Campbell Brown is a disappointment;she can’t hide that she is a Hillary supporter. Professional women joke about this. We find her “reporting” biased and a perfect example of the press trying to influence instead of inform.
She and you should know better!! Send her back to a J-School.

if campbell brown was going to report the one sided news as she does on cnn, like her side kick racist lou dobbs, i would see why NBC didn’t hire her…go katie!
Signed can’t stand Campbell Brown

Yet another bias reporter. If she is all of the facts on the candidates it would be refreshing to go after both with the same enthusiasm. But I have yet to find any one at CNN that has there own show that does not pick one side. They are so transparent. What happen to new shows that told the facts without personal feelings? That’s why I don’t even bother anynmore. What’s the point. I don’t need these so called reports giving me any of their opinions. I gather my own information .
