Internet won’t be free on Wii
Don Day June 20th, 2007
The Nintendo Wii has won its fair share LR praise for its innovative online applications. One of those apps - the “Internet Channel,” will cost users $5, starting July 1. The other “channels” - News and Forecast, will still be no charge.

You know what? Then don’t offer it. I can just as easily get the Internet wirelessly on my laptop in the same room.

First of all, Nintendo announced this from day one. Everybody knew that the web browser was going to be a free beta, then a free download (final release), then a pay download (same final release). So it’s not like this was a surprise.
And secondly, $5 is near enough to free that it doesn’t matter anyway. If Nintendo jacked it to $20 or $30, then I could see complaints.

Good thing I downloaded the App earlier. It works very well. Much better then the PS3 browser.
