Mysterious Wikipedia post on Benoit family deaths
Cory Bergman June 28th, 2007
Isn’t this crazy? Someone updated Chris Benoit’s Wikipedia page announcing the death of his wife Nancy 13 hours before police discovered their bodies.
UPDATE: Some excellent snooping by Corey Spring at Newsvine unveils a possible culprit and explanation - a strange prank and very strange coincidence. (via fimoc)

It’s a time stamp issue. I bet there’s a logical explanation - either a computer issue, a hack or some such.

it’s not like it would be hard to fake a time stamp, just come crazy fan living in his mom’s basement with nothing better to do.

I’d be very, very, very surprised if you could fake a time stamp on wikipedia.

Yea, cause wikipedia is known for its security. A simple SQL Injection would do it, not sure if anyone would really want to waste their time but it could certainly be done.

A producer over at ABC News contacted me about the story I wrote linked above and I shared some information with them - they are going to push to reveal/confirm his identity

This one’s been solved. The dude who did it says it was a “terrible coincidence.” (I would link to it, but comments with links are eaten up here, so you’ll have to click through to my site for the link.)

Rex - you can always put a link in the URL above where you put your name, email and URL then tell people to click on your name for the link. A bit of a pain, yes, but it does avoid the spambots (at least for now.) I linked to the newsvine story thusly. Click on my name!
