A Rueters report states that Universal, "produces one in three albums sold in the United States" while recent headlines report that Apple surpassed Amazon to snag 10% of overall retail music sales.

Who's the bully/monopolist here?

I actually learned this one on Drudge Report, but it\'s also in the NY Times. I do enjoy reading PaidContent though. They do an excellent job as well. I\'m sure they would be happy to know you read both of our blogs.

Strangle hold.... how?
Because Apple did it?
Because no one else did it?
Because people like the way it all works well?
This is a strangle hold?

Universal can sell music to anyone they want to.
iTunes has no exclusive deal to the songs.
The large market share Apple has is because
people like the service and it all works easily.

By not selling to iTunes Universal is preventing their own artists from revenue, and promoting piracy.
The vary reason people downloaded song illegally
in the first place was because there was no place
to legally down them.

And this is far from the first crack in the unraveling
of the large recording companies. They continue
down a long road to destruction.
The world has changed but they don't seem to
understand what's going on and how to profit from it.
