Weekend fun: Make yourself as a ‘Simpsons’ character

As part of its promo site for “The Simpsons Movie,” 20th Century Fox has a section that lets you make your own Simpsons avatar. The choices are many, (although not quite as many as I’d like, so my avatar is more generous with my hair at the back of my head), and LR Spouse, LR Daughter and the LR Boys had considerable fun with it.

Me, as a Simpsons character. (Well, I got the five o’clock shadow right.)

4. Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant is, indeed, over the border. But Homer drives to work. So at least it’s close.
5. Homer goes to a bar in “Fear of Flying” that is the “Cheers” bar.
6. Bradley International Airport is driving distance to Springfield.
7. It has a “Springfield Armory” (Ep. “Bart’s Comet)
8. There is a “Springfield Country Club”) Ep. “Scenes From the Class Struggle in Springfield”
9. It has a dam (Ep.: “Brother from another series”)
10. I said so.

Groening is “a native of Portland, Oregon” according to the Simpsons website, and Portland is not only home to Groening, it’s also home to (neighbor) Flanders, (Mayor) Quimby, (Sideshow Bob) Terwilliger, (Milhouse) Van Houton, (bully) Kearney, (reverend) Lovejoy streets, and a now-demolished nuclear power plant.

Groening also says he was inspired by the series Father Knows Best, set in Springfield, Oregon.

But since it’s up for popular vote, I’m sure the more populous Springfield, Illinois will win.

the simpsons live in west kentucky they said it on the ‘episode 138 spectacular’ it was a clip show and troy mclore said it.get it rite

I am one of 200 volunteers who appeared in the winning Springfield Vermont video. After we helped our local Chamber of Commerce win the contest, they turned their backs on us. We were kept off the invitation list so the elite people in town could attend the world premiere instead. And not even a word of thanks or mention of us in the public ceremony outside the theater.
