CourtTV rebrands to truTV

Cory Bergman July 11th, 2007

What’s the deal with these funky TV brands, lately? I wonder how much of it has to do with the struggle to secure good domain names and trademarks — which are extremely expensive and in short demand these days.

i don’t know about “extremely” expensive.

most domainers i have dealt with just wanna make a buck. to which i say “good luck, here’s your check”.

instead of insulting them just make them an offer they can’t refuse.

the alternative is to adopt a “funky tv brand”.

    yuck.

trutv.com is pointing to a nameserver of foxinc.com. tru.tv isn’t registered to Turner either. That almost looks like they forgot to secure a domain name.

Wait. I was told to my face by Hilary Schneider — then CEO of the FAILED Knight Ridder Digital — that the name of your site and URL didn’t matter.

She said it DID NOT MATTER. AT ALL!!!

And, was very adamant about it. Rude, to be exact.

Since she knows everything, obviously, why are we even having this discussion?

Just look at how successful KRD was, right?

And, of course, someone who thought up Sunspot.net must know that a name doesn’t matter in the least. Right? It was so successful, right?

Things that get better(like Court T.V.),sometimes need a new name change in order to let people know;that there is something ‘different’,with us.It’s just like a women putting on a new dress,or new make-up. . it might be the same woman;but she’s looking much, much, better!

Will you continue to have live court trials under this new name “TruTv”? I am a faithful fan of CourtTV. If live court trials end on 1/1/08, I will switch to cable.

i don’t care what they call it. when they eliminated catherine crier, they lost it all. she was the greatest.

I sure hope we aren’t losing the live trials. I have been a faithful follower since the inception of Court TV, and I hope this name change isn’t indicitive of a whole change in format. I for one will probably quit watching if this is the case
