Actually, you can do this on your own, but it will take some work. Take a look at Pegasus' unique feature "The Daily You". They are allowing you to choose whether you want the site to track your movement to learn what kind of news you want to read, and then the site will customize that news for you.

Mike Orren is the guy who runs Pegasus News. He's extremely bright, and he's got a good crew working for him. It will be interesting to see how Fisher integrates Pegasus into its own business model.

Of course we don't know what Fisher paid.
But what are they buying exactly?
It's a news site, with lots of local content
and it looks nice.
This can't be done on your own?
You need to buy this?
I don't get it.

If they can pull it off - technology won't replace the editors and salespeople who will need to publish and sell local sites - this would be a great coup for FishComm here in the Northwest.

Looking at their station map, it appears there's only one market regionally where they don't have a presence. Thankfully it's the same market I'm in. :D

Not to subtly I wonder out loud what success they'll have against zIdaho down in Boise or if there are any other station groups working on a similar deal here in the Northwest for either hyperlocal news and social networking.

Like I said, not to subtle, but had to ask. ;)
