Cory Bergman July 19th, 2007

Even the vast majority of House Republicans voted against Bush’s plan to eliminate the $420 million federal subsidy for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Yea, it was only last year that the government stopped collecting the Spanish-American War excise tax on long-distance telephone calls.

I am sure tax dollars will be funding Public Broadcasting long after its outlived its usefulness.

We wouldn’t want Frontline to show the country the true face of the Bush Adminisration.

The government has no business funding the blatantly political viewpoints that PBS promotes. Unbiased coverage? Have you listened to “All things Considered” lately? That being said, it is good programming and could probably survive without the government which is how it should be.

yes,i have listened lately and am beginning to think the gov’t has threatened to reduce or eliminate their funding unless they start being a little more admin. friendly. really.

i liked “all things” and npr better 2 years ago. back then you were right about them being biased… and it was a refreshing change from that foamy-mouth jackel limbaugh.

David: You want a list of things the government has no business funding? I’ll take Big Bird over most of ‘em.

But I agree, in principle, that good programming should be able to stand on its own. The broadcast (and web) environment has changed considerably since 1967 when the CPB was started.

Still, let’s not get into “This is where the government should save money” argument at this point in our history, or how bias one way or the other should influence it.

Bias: What we call the opinions of people with whom we disagree.

    See my post…
