Steve - Though I’m sure others will comment, I thought your piece hit the nail on the head and was finely nuanced to capture the ridiculousness of the rules, these types of events and the cozy relationship between selected parties.

While I’m not sure it would be “irresponsible” not to point out the typo, I fixed it. I like that this makes twice that the main discussion surrounding a piece that I wrote was on a slang contraction.

OK - I know this wasn’t the point of the post, but I now see that other online dictionary-type devices list ya’ll as a variant and there are lots of websites that spell it like it is in the post and as I’ve always spelled it.

Hate to have to bust you on this point again - I know it’s a minor thing and a pet peeve of mine - but I’ll feel irresponsible if I don’t address your error in misspelling the word “y’all” which is a contraction of “you all.” “Ya’ll” would be a contraction of “you will” which doesn’t make sense. If you’re from Texas, you are excused; otherwise, please spell this word correctly.
