iPhone could be vulnerable to attack

Apple’s Macintosh is renowned for its nearly virus-proof operating system. But a report in today’s New York Times suggest that the company’s iPhone (built on that same operating system) might not be quite as secure. A former employee with the NSA had his iPhone log on to a custom-built website. The site then “injected a bit of code into the iPhone that then took over the phone.” The phone sent off a raft of recent text message and other files. The story notes that the exploit could even turn the phone into a “portable bugging device.” The New York Times pointed its readers to a detailed site — with a name that speaks for itself: ExploitingTheiPhone.com.

Not to be difficult, but as for Apple’s security, I’ll quote from the article;
“Windows gets hacked all the time not because it is more insecure than Apple, but because 95 percent of computer users are on Windows”
Though, if this phone continues to grow in popularity, hackers might possibly add its users to those running an Apple and decide that there’s finally enough people to justify the effort.

@discreeet - spot on mate, people think Apple has some “special” way of keeping their OS secure and they do; keep less than 5 or 6 percent of the market and you won’t be a likely target.

Really? It’s just the market share? So given all the people/hackers out there who positively hate Macs, they just all shrug and haven’t yet bothered to craft a virus that genuinely destroys OSX? Yeah, I bet you’re right.
Keep spreadin’ the FUD. We dare not admit that there just may be an OS out there better than Windows.
