we're locked in an intense discussion with some community bloggers right now regarding "creating content" vs. "aggregating" it.

talk about SIGH!

one asked what aggregation was.

Sigh.

I won't get into a big rant about this niche sites, but let me make this observation. These sites (and I'm not just limiting this to the NBCOO ones) try and have it both ways. They try and create content as if they're a traditional media site, then just add one "social" features to fill it out.

The problem is that there isn't much staff, and it's tough to keep everything fresh and vibrant.

Take, for example, DigPhilly. I can't include the URL here, but if you look at the top entertainment story, it's an interview with Hayden Panettiere.

Great, except it appears to be an interview that's more than a month old. The page doesn't have a date stamp on it, but it references the fact that she'll begin work on "Heroes" on June 16th.

I looked around quickly, and that seems to be about the time that Wizard World in Philly took place. Making this one old story for such a prominent position.
