RTNDA requests meeting with NFL commissioner
Stephen Warley July 26th, 2007
Lost Remote has frequently posted about the extremely restrictive (and sometimes zany) NFL guidelines for local coverage of games. Yesterday RTNDA Executive Director Barbara Cochran sent a letter to Roger Goodell requesting a meeting to discuss local coverage guidelines. Some of the issues RTNDA would like to cover include limitations on use of video and audio online, requiring photojournalists to wear the logos of NFL sponsors during games, and the exclusion of regional cable news channels from covering games. Now’s our chance to air our grievances. What other issues should RTNDA bring up with Goodell? You can also e-mail your thoughts to rtnda@rtnda.org.

It’s already in a letter and a face to face meeting always accomplishes more than just a letter.

Goodell’s letter back to Cochran:
Dear Ms. Cochran,
Thank you for your letter. I’ll make a deal with you. You have your tv and radio members stop mentioning Michael Vick and dog fighting and I’ll take the sponsor logos off the vests. In addition, I’ll allow :55 seconds of video for your web sites.
Deal or no deal?
Sincerely,
Roger

I think what many are failing to realize is ANYONE who chooses to train dogs to fight has no regard for any LIFE whatsoever. In fact, studies have shown that those who are cruel to animals have the potential to harm humans too–theres just no regard for life, period.
Last year in Detroit a 6 year old girl–a CHILD–was mauled to her death by a pit bull dogfighter.
Anyone who supports Vick I’m sure would change their mind if it were there child mauled to death. Tho, nowadays maybe not–we’ve stopped thinking about our future a long time ago.
What happened to HUMANITY, MORALS, VALUES and RESPECT? Sure doesn’t seem like we have much of that anywhere nowadays–sad. you can take da man out the ghetto but not the ghetto out da man–I love my brothers but he’s acting a fool!!!
I wonder how Vick would feel if we put him in a “rape stand” or electrocuted him for losing a game. Come to my ghettos and I’ll show you kids as young as 12 fighting their dogs or wlaking down the streets with blood on their faces.

Congrats to RTNDA for stepping up for online rights. The organization was pretty active fighting the sideline ban last season. Somebody needs to lead otherwise we’re all going to be screwed.
