I am a IBM/PC user... and guess what... as my x86 platform is not Intel based (AMD Athlon), I am incapable as well to use Premiere CS 3!!!! 
Only as the SSE2 features are missing on my dear AMD processor!  This is just driving me nuts, there is not a single reason I could think of (as being a developer myself), why this is a system requirement. The extended media features of the Intel processor, are (in my eyes) not so sourly needed. And second of all, in order to provide some wider compatibility, it could have been easily emulated!

No this is just bark marketing, and Adobe has gone the same way as dear Apple... the Intel way!

I hope someone is going to open up an anti trust claim on this one, for me Adobe has finally taken it's last stroke, and I will look for alternative software!
