AOL, Google, MS want NBCU, sports leagues investigated

Broadcasting & Cable’s John Eggerton hears a consortium of computer companies will ask for a federal investigation NBC Universal, the NFL and Major League Baseball. Why? That’s not clear yet. The suit will center on “consumer deception” - but more is expected to roll out in a Wednesday press conference. Eggerton thinks the suit may have something to do with copyright laws. Interesting…

i want nbc investigated too; why no name yet for their purported youtube killer?
lots of hot air and press events so far… and a sept. launch is still on, but not even a code name.

It’s because of the boilerplate copyright warning the broadcasters always read about how rebroadcast, etc., is illegal “without the written consent of Major League Baseball,” etc. The group says the warning claims rights that copyright does not give them, and therefore the statements should be revised.
