The Wall Street Journal of the future

Don Day August 6th, 2007

It will look more like USA Today. Its journalism will stay honest. The journalism will suffer. The journalism won’t change. It will change business journalism. It will lose prestige. It will be better. It will be Murdoch’s private investigator. The paper will be less accurate. The paper will be less tedious. It will be a horror show. It will fail.

No one knows how it will be.

Well, whatever else happens, there is one thing we can say for certainty — it will bring competition to an industry that forgot how to compete decades ago. And it will do that by trying to give consumers what they want. Only elitists will deny that industries are made better when they work to satisfy their customers and not themselves.
