Dan--

Yeah, that is indeed the case with the MTV-embedded players. They apparently sniff IP addresses for a lot of stuff at MTVN, which leads to some odd things.

For instance, I get press releases from someone at MTV Canada, but none of the links work because we're in the U.S.

Stereogun users complain that the new Overdrive doesn't allow non-U.S. net users to watch embedded video.

Hey Rob,

If you have someone over there who is Linux and PHP savvy...there's a PHP application I found online and currently am setting up at work for converting videos off the avids to FLV without running them through Adobe's converter. The app also has an option for embedding, linking, email, et cetera.

I can send details on the program when the site is finished if you want them

We use Brightcove for our videos. We allow users to embed, email, link, etc., to all of our vides. NewsOK is a converged newspaper (The Oklahoman) and TV site (KWTV NEWS 9) in Oklahoma City. Like most sites, we're making the push for increased video - from reporters with cams to building our own studio on the newspaper side for headlines and entertainment video.

Unfortunately, "VIDEO NOT ACCESSIBLE" and 20 seconds of blackness is everything that is embedded at the moment.

We - KXLY.com in Spokane - allow people to embed our videos. We provide embedding and permalink options on our video player and also through our YouTube presence.

We've had mixed success with our internal solution since we're using WMV for streaming and we've had some issues with the embed code and WMV. We're hoping to shift over to FLV since it seems to be more conducive to this kind of use. That option is in Beta now.

In the meantime, we set up our YouTube page both to get more eyeballs to our content and provide people another embed option in the FLV format to share our content.
