New anchor joins CNN.com

CNN.com announced today that Reggie Aqui is joining its online anchor team. Aqui has been a freelance reporter for CNN in Chicago, and prior to that he worked for KHOU. No offense to Reggie, but my favorite CNN.com anchor will remain Nicole Lapin, who even has her own unofficial fan site. (Did you see her photo in Wired Magazine a couple months ago? Wow.) Nicole speaks five languages, is addicted to her Blackberry and happens to be one of CNN’s youngest anchors ever.

she has the charm of robin meade, the personality of adriana and the looks and bod of lindsay lohan…one of my favs, too…i even bought pipeline because of her.
this regi guy used to report for cnn, too from the field.

I used to work at a competing station of Reggie in Milwaukee. He’s a great guy… I’m really happy for him.
Rex: I thought you only had eyes for MSNBC’ers.

There was a time when an anchor with a national audience had to have considerable experience in the job before being hired.
Well, that ship has sailed. I understand.
But you don’t get to worry about whether TV or online newscasts have any credibility when you hire a 23-year-old (I know, she’s smart) for a national anchoring job, because you’re part of the problem.
