A blog that’s a blog

The term blog is used a lot in our industry by people who want you to think they’re blogging, but they only post once a day or less. Well, FoxNews.com is blowing away other networks’ blogs with their new GretaWire.com blog. It’s a great look at the behind the scenes of the O.J. Simpson trial. Greta is posting frequently with photos, videos and information that isn’t going to make air. She’s even blogged from inside the courtroom. Excellent work by her and her producers in the field.

Wow — well done. I remember when Greta launched her blog, but was of course disappointed that it didn’t allow comments, and quickly dismissed it. Glad to see that FNC and/or Greta are now allowing comments, thereby making it a true blog.

Where’s the official definition of “web log,” where it specifies that a “real” or “true” blog must (a) have multiple entries per day, and (b) allow comments?

As an aside, if you’d told me in 1996 that we’d hear the phrase “..the O.J. Simpson trial..” in 2007, i’d have had ya committed.
But, this is FOX, so we know we can look forward to Greta “blogging” from inside the home of the missing-and-likely-raped white girl. Oh, and how awesome Republicans are.

I gotta say this is a very impressive blog. I work for an online magazine in DC and so I spend a lot of time each day scouring the Web and gathering information. This has to be one of the best in terms of how its organized, its brevity and its content.
I’m starting to think FNC is way ahead of the other networks in new media.

i think GRETA IS GREAT AND TRUTHFUL. SHE COMES ACROSS THE TV VERY VERY GOOD. SHE IS A VERY SMART AND PRETTY GIRL . I WATCH HER EVERY NIGHT.
