Live-blogging Halo 3 launch event

Cory Bergman September 24th, 2007

Update: After spending six and a half hours in line — and live-blogging it all — I now have my hands on a copy of Halo 3. Bill Gates was among the surprise guests. And of course, the Master Chief. What a crazy event (1,000 people were there), and right after I finish this post I’m going to pop the game in for an hour or so. That’ll make it 2:30 a.m. and I have a 9 a.m. meeting. So, why did Microsoft release this on a Monday night?

(Oh, by the way, it was fun trying to explain “live blogging” to TV producers who teased what I was doing on the air.)

The game’s looking really good, wonder how many will be calling in “sick” after playing all night? Heh. Used to wish for games like this back in the Atari 2600 days.

You had to explain ‘live blogging’ to TV folks.. in Seattle?

    Dude, WTF?

It’s not surprising you had to explain live-blogging to the TV producers there. I have a hard enough time explaining that you can’t “just put a link” to a physical street address on the web to some of our reporters.

Great blog Cory. Mr. Gates looked happy to be taking that first guy’s money and I agree you owe Kate big for this one.

It’s not as much explaining what live-blogging is.. as much as it is explaining how to tease it in 10 seconds or less.

In fairness, he’s writing up what happens, live on the web. I can see how expanding that explanation to ten seconds could be difficult.
