MSNBC runs ad for Fox Business Channel
Cory Bergman October 5th, 2007
It was part of a larger Time Warner commercial buy, so it’s unclear if MSNBC actually signed off on the particular Fox Business Channel spot. But it reminds me that I’ve seen increasing cases of online ads for network shows showing up on local TV sites from other networks. Like Heroes on an ABC site, for example, as part of remnant inventory. Have you had this happen to you, and does it really matter?

I’ve seen NBC ads popping up on the rival CBS station in our market. We get a chuckle out of it.

I’ve seen ads for “Desperate Housewives” on FX.

Yup, even if your careful it does happen, and somebody gets all up in arms about it. But does it really matter? No.

I’m with Rocker. We had a similar dustup when I was at WBZ-TV and WBZ Radio started running ads for competitor TV stations. Their policy? “Hey - if you want to pay us more…”

Actually, just in the last day or two I saw a CNBC spot on Fox News Channel (I assume my local cable provider, Comcast, put it in with little thought to the timing of FBN’s arrival).
