NBCU adds Oxygen to cable holdings
Don Day October 9th, 2007
Oxygen will join MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo, USA Network and SciFi in NBC Universal’s portfolio of cable networks. NBCU will pay $925 million for the female-focused network. Oxygen launched in 2000 with a huge interactive push - an effort that largely flopped. Now, in an interesting turnabout - Oxygen could help backstop the company’s iVillage.com property. NBCU will sell a pair of Telemundo stations to help finance the acquisition.
