Scripps to split into two companies
David Johnson October 16th, 2007
Less than a month after a similar announcement by Belo, E.W. Scripps Co. CEO Ken Lowe announced this morning that the company is seeking to split itself into two public entities. One would house the cable networks including HGTV and Food along with new interactive businesses such as Shopzilla and USwitch, called Scripps Networks Interactive. The other would be composed of the newspapers, local broadcast, and syndication arms. If approved, Lowe will helm the first while current COO Rich Boehne will run the second. (Disclaimer: I work with Scripps in D.C.)
Plus: Lots more details of the split in the Scripps press release
