hahaha! Those fornicators are getting what they deserve.

I’m sorry but no one deserves for their house to be burnt down. Whether inorant (such as yourself, anon Number 7), evil, or good.

It’s those judgemental, cruel and closed-minded religious freaks like you that give every other christian a bad name. Fortunately, I know people who really understand what they are preached.

Furthermore, you have no idea what it’s like to be a journalist. Exposing the bad is not for fame or to spread corruption. t is to change it and make society a better place. Some of us really are trying to make this worlda better place with our words.

Struck down by your judgemental hand and there’ll be no one left. (Except probably yourself, of course.)

at the risk of sounding like #7, my comment centered around the hundreds of times the story HAS BEEN MADE to be about the reporter and not the real story of the tragedy and suffering by the “peoples”. matter of fact, my comment was made BEFORE i watched the vid.

after watching i will say the guy did a great job keeping his emotions in check and that’s good enough for me. however, when tossed back to the desk, they were heading toward making it all about him. so my comment stands… not in relation to the reporter who lost his home, but in regards to the industry.

i’d have gotten back to you sooner but we was surfing with some local boys until 4p last night (10p your time) and internet service is rather sparce here on moloka’i.

Our prayers go out to not only Larry, but to all the others affected by these unbelievable events. We have been watching the news from up here in NorCal and even though we’ve seen plenty of “interviews” with homeowners who have left their homes, Larry’s video is one that really hits home. We are praying for everyone’s safety - the victims and the rescue personnel alike…God Bless all of you!

invitedmedia, while I can intellectually sympathize with all of the other families — and I may very well have other friends among them, and certainly friends of friends, given that I spent 35 years of my life in San Diego, my response was aimed narrowly at this one person whom I’ve known since my earliest days in journalism, who has been a friend to me and my family … I’m sure Larry would not in anyway want to draw attention to himself at the expense of other families, but there is something to be said for access and familiarity to help represent the larger tragedy. Given Larry’s three decades or so of huge popularity in San Diego, I’m sure his tragedy brings home how heart-wrenching this can be for so many people in a way that might be otherwise hard to attain.

You’ll note that professionally, Larry not only maintained composure, he didn’t overplay his own personal tragedy and draw undue attention to himself. He simply reported the story.

My condolences to my friend Larry Himmel and his family.

Larry is a gem of a news person who has been a fixture in San Diego for many, many years. You won’t meet many people in the media business as kind, humble and caring as Larry.
