RTNDA creates fire message board

Cory Bergman October 24th, 2007

Broadcasters covering the fires in Southern California can connect up on a new RTNDA message board dedicated to the story. “If you are a news manager or reporter who needs something … or a freelancer who has services to offer … or a news manager with advice to share … or you need to reach out to other newsrooms for any reason whatsoever, let us help you,” explains RTNDA.

forgive this crass comment, but is this the first f’in huge story the the RTNDA has ever witnessed?

this and several other options should have been in place several years ago.

only weeks ago cory said he was in new york for some rtnda award and they didn’t even show internet video clips of the winners.

    a jesus moment?

guys, as a very bright texan once said (even though he heard it elsewhere) THE INTERNET IS THE PLATFORM

Let’s not jump all over people trying to do the right thing.

that’s why i said forgive the comment.

but trying to do the right thing and actually doing it are two different things.

and another thing (has nothing to do with rtnda) then i’m gone for the day… fishing.

why aren’t the denver and boston ib affiliates working close together?

this is a huge missed opportunity for both. invidually and collectively.

i’d make a wisecrack like “maybe in ten years” but…

    aloha!

    What’s an “IB” affiliate?

    What’s Up?,

I’m a noob here. And it seems like a great forum.

I just wanted to give a friendly hello to all of you here.

    :)

Joe - TDC is referring to the ABC affils in Denver and Boston which are both on the Internet Broadcasting platform. Boston is owned by H-A while Denver is owned by McGraw Hill … I’m not an IB user but would guess that being on the same platform would have meant an opportunity for them to swap content which I think is what our friend out on Molokai is referring to.

  • 8. tdc  |  October 25th, 2007 at 8:35 pm

    exactly.

    and mahalo rob.

matter of fact, they ARE swapping content… they opened a trash talk message board timestamped 7:45p this evening. gutsy move.

    take a look for yourself.

    ya think they read LR?

TDC - Since LostRemote is using Google Analytics I bet they have some very interesting near real-time traffic data that would show a lot more people lurking than commenting, so I wouldn’t be surprised if your thoughts aren’t too far off course.

I have tried contacting the Governors office in CA but can’t get anyone to listen. There is new technology that is used on the east coast for preventing fires and fighting them cutting large fire lines. A website to visit is gyrotrac.com This equipment does everything a ground fire crew can do 1000 times faster when it comes to making fire breaks. It is also used for fuel reduction in the forests. these machines were used in the Georgia fire earlier this year. It has light ground pressure so it does not disturb the soil and was able to move through the swamp edges fairly easy. US Fish and Wildlife , Florida division of Forestry, NASA, and many others have this equipment why doesn’t California?

    Hello,

The Internet is famous for driving new and innovative ideas and technologies. Today I am pleased to announce one of the Internet’s newest innovations…

What if I told you it was possible to earn revenue on every single person that visits any of your websites, at any time?

A new innovative technology has been developed and it is geared to rival the Google AdSense program. Now there is a way for you to earn money on 100% of your web traffic without selling anything and without visitors having to click on anything.

As a matter of fact your website visitors don’t have to do anything at all and you get paid!

    How is this possible?

Sound too good to be true?

I assure you that this is for real and it is here to stay…
