This is probably more of an attempt to try and make him "cool" to anyone under 50 so inclined to watch a newscast. Williams has been acting in his newscasts for years. The forced mannerisms, the pause in asking questions, the now-all-too-familiar anchor attire in times of chaos. By the way, that is a rumpled hiking shirt with double front pockets.
