TiVo HD commercial airs in standard-def
Cory Bergman November 3rd, 2007
I was watching a game on ESPN HD today and an ad for TiVo’s new HD DVR appeared… in standard definition. Why would you need a TiVo HD DVR if you weren’t watching in HD in the first place? My wife Kate suggests that networks should charge more for advertisers to run standard-def spots, instead of the reverse.

I am not thedetroitchannel (or any other thesomethingchannel), but I’ve decided I’m going to stop clearing the name field when it’s automatically filled in for me.
I think your wife’s idea makes sense. An SD ad on an HD channel is much more of a prompt for me to change the channel. Networks should try to discourage that.

so, you’d rather type over 100 characters to bitch than simply delete and add your own id or leave it blank?
are you on company time?

It was probably a mistake/accident. I’ve seen it happen, quite often, where the pillar bars on the side of the screen are left up during HD commercials.

Still filled in for me. And to the tdc who yelled at me, I’ve deleted thousands of characters of this, so I merely announced my intention to stop doing it. Now everyone will be confused as to my identity until it’s fixed.

ok, for those who lambasted tdc- a new id for you to enjoy.
enjoy!
