NBCU goes green, very green

Cory Bergman November 4th, 2007

They even turned out the studio lights at the halftime show for Sunday Night Football. Not only has NBC gone green on the air, but also online

And by extension, Broadcasting & Cable and TVWeek, running NBCU ads…

Maybe I should turn Lost Remote green to help spread the message about the environment. Well, now that I think about it, only if NBCU buys an ad…

Update: Charles in comments mocks up a green Lost Remote. Hmmm.

Adds Safran: NBCU has a master blog going about this at greenisuniversal.com where they list all their affiliated shows’ “green sites,” and have blog entries about the effort.

Click my name… The green doesn’t really suit Lost Remote at all. Then you’d have to change the grey’s to match, and then it just wouldn’t be worth it, even if it was NBCU advertising. :)

Does anyone else think it’s questionable for B&C and TVWeek to change their logos to green as part of an NBCU ad buy? I’m familiar with the concept of changing backgrounds and some design elements of a homepage as part of a major “roadblock” buy, but your masthead & logo?

Hey Charles! Great work. If you ever come to an LR meetup, you will note we all wind up that color anyway.

do i recall a time not long ago when lr readers were up in arms when a certain ad buyer had all backgrounds done yellow (like corn for ethanol, if i remember right)

NBC is “going green” by dimming its studio lights. Good thing that offsets the huge amount of energy needed to fly Matt Lauer to Greenland, Ann Curry to the South Pole and Al Roker to Ecuador.
