Politico gets linked from all around the political blogosphere. I don't read Drudge, but I've been taken there by a lot of different sources and they're also regularly cited by mainstream media. With the upcoming election, obviously their timing was perfect and they've been very successful at getting linked.

(Plus, they co-sponsored one of the first debates. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't in October, but it probably gave them a good foundation upon which to build)

Either Politico is making great strides in its short history or it got seriously Drudged during the month of October. Can't remember if a Politico story popped last month, but either way the numbers are rather surprising. And with a crazy election season on the way, they'll only capitalize.
