A little surprise in writers strike talks

The AP is reporting that the WGA threw a grenade of sorts into the writers strike negotiations: it suggested unionizing reality shows and animations.

    From a total outsider’s perspective, this sounds like the Guild is just showing the Producers that they could be asking for a lot more than just payments for web use, etc… in an effort to get the Producers anxious to move on the issues that are already under discussion.

    If that is the case, it sounds like an interesting tactic. Of course if they are really planning to move on those issues as well, it will get a lot more messy…

    I’m sure that folks who know more than I do will have more intelligent thoughts.
