Expert commercial skipper fooled by ad
Cory Bergman December 7th, 2007
I’m that expert. I grab the remote just as a show fades to black, tap the fast-forward button three times, and then hit play within a second or two of the end of the commercial break. I’m so good at it, the networks should sue (remember ReplayTV a few years ago?) But last night, as I was expertly skipping through a break in one of the final fresh 30 Rock episodes, I was fooled. I saw Tina Fey running around and I hit play. But… it’s actually something called “30 Rock Holiday Funtimes,” little moments from the show that are actually commercial spots for Federal Express. Brilliant, I guess.

these caught me too… dangerously close to blurring the line between advertising and content.

Not only did I get caught by these (yes, twice-shame on me) I hit pause during it when the kids came in to ask me a question.
Dang it.
I’d rather they stick with the product mentions, those at least were funny.

not too get technical but it’s American Express - I know this because they show the same Tine Fey commercial - as a bumper on both sides of the Holiday Fun Spots…
Ahhh… Insertial - product placement - advertising…

I came across a brand new site for free TV
www.VidRiver .com
They have links to all your favorite shows from all the
major networks like Prison Break, Grey’s Anatomy, and Lost
plus 1000’s of international TV channels.
Its worth a look

Was this meant to sound like a headline from The Onion intentionally? Are you “area man?”
Also, who is Amanda E., and why does she like this Facebook Apps link? She certainly isn’t me.

Cory,
They fooled me too… and I, too, consider myself a complete expert at skipping the commercials. I consider it an art form.
But, I have to say, they were pretty funny - so I didn’t mind.
Andrew
