TodayShow.com’s clickable video holiday guide
Cory Bergman December 10th, 2007
The folks at MSNBC.com have built a nifty gift guide on TodayShow.com that allows you to click (and buy) items in the video. The guide was built with Microsoft’s “Video Hyperlink” technology in conjunction with MSN Shopping, and it’s all sponsored by Sears. Give it a try here, and a link to the press release follows the screen grab below…

REDMOND, Wash - December 10, 2007 - TODAYshow.com launched its interactive nine-episode clickable Holiday Guide that provides consumers with expert advice on the coolest holiday gifts of the season and enables them to “click” right on the gift ideas in the video to get more information about the products, and even shop for them online. Msnbc.com’s innovative and industry-leading video experience was created in partnership with NBC and MSN Shopping, and incorporates Microsoft’s Video Hyperlink technology.
Consumers can view episodes of TODAYshow.com’s Holiday Guide at holidays.todayshow.com. The series kicks off with an exclusive Kids Toys segment shot in the world-renowned toy store FAO Schwarz, and features everything from make-your-own-monster kits to stuffed animals and robots. The Don’t Forget Your Pet segment, shot at a unique lifestyle boutique for pets, will appeal to those who want to make sure the family pet is included in the holiday festivities. Anyone looking for a “Furrari” or “Furcedes” car-shaped dog bed, or the “Brad Pitbull” or “Sarah Jessica Barker” chew toys shouldn’t miss this episode.
The series also features Gifts for the Chef, tips for the Tech Guru and Stylish Gifts for Her. TODAYshow.com’s Holiday Guide wraps up with a special Procrastination Central segment for all of the shoppers who wait until the last minute to purchase holiday gifts and need ideas - fast.
“The clickable video Holiday Guide is a great example of how msnbc.com is leading the way in delivering interactive experiences that enrich the site experience for both consumers and advertisers,” said Kyoo Kim, vice president of advertising sales, msnbc.com. “Consumers will discover a fun way to get new gift ideas, while advertisers get a truly unique platform during one of the busiest online shopping periods through our cutting-edge clickable video technology.”
Consumers can also find a sponsored clickable video segment exclusively from Sears. The Sears Top Holiday Gifts segment encourages consumers to “grant a wish” this holiday season. The segment shows random shoppers on the streets of New York being surprised with a few of the gifts from the hundreds of items in the Sears Holiday Wishbook.
The videos featured in the segments were created by NBC’s Peacock Productions.

Please tell me where I might find a small black & white check long raincoat. Would even like to have a hat or umbrella to match. When the wind blows, the bottom half of you gets wet also. If, it’s nylon & lined witha lightweight or polyester lining, it can be worn year round. I would so greatly appreciate your help. Thank you!
