It looks like a glorified news site from 1999. I agree with DB, it's bright and colorful, BUT... my eyes go everywhere, can't focus on any central element and become bored very, very quickly.

I hope they like it in their market, though.

I noticed on some of their videos they are using a similar lower-third in-video ad serving technology that YouTube has started using.

Lots of branding across the site ... it certainly has WEEK written all over it.

My take on User-submitted video/news...good to have, may eventually amount to something. But for now, don't hang your hat on it.

Not real sure about the YouNews. Doesn't seem to really be taking off in our market.

If it works for them though...

Wow, that's a yawner. Let me count the things that I don't care for:

1) Four columns of information at the top of the page
2) Constantly moving Flash ads/promotion
3) Pushing the page down for an ad at the top
4) Flash player on the top story that dominates the page
5) Poor alignment and styles all over the place
6) The entire right half of the page looks like a bargain bin at a discount clothing store: lots of colors and flashes in giant tangled heaps, but nothing worth a closer look
7) The strange but funny popup that results from clicking on the 3-day forecast

It just feels like yet another TV web site; I might go there if they had run a news story that featured someone I knew, but I won't go there for a daily, much less hourly, hit of news.
