Good Evening,

Well Blockbuster is changing for the better. I know first hand your frustrations about pricing. Blockbuster is changing and will be come the world leader in it's industry and will be the first company to be your true source for all your entertainment needs!!! If you have notcied new product is being introduced. For Example: PS3 hardware,Blue Ray Machine, digital download kiosks. Blockbuster will soon be selling all types of gadgets and the stores are changing to something that you never seen before any a video store. Just imagine this starbucks, blockbuster, barnes and nobles, and best buy all in one. What would that look like? well eventually that's where Blockbuster is headed. No more out dated technology. Just hold on help is on the way! Blockbuster is changing for the better! Are you ready to change with it!
Change is good, Also just to let eveyone know Blockbuster is no longer competing with netflix there is no point. We have so many more things to leverage. Like an actual store with people you can interact with face to face. we already bought out the digital downloading service, and don't forget the New CEO is from 711. Which was struggling prior to his arrival.

Signing off......A Blockbuster Insider.........

I just canceled Blockbuster yesterday and switched to Netflix. All because in the 5 months that we had joined the ALL Access thing they first reduced us from having unlimited free rentals at the store when returning our mailed movies to just being able to trade in twice. And follow that up with a 20% price hike....yeah no thanks. Never going to another blockbuster again!

well i recently changed from blockbuster to netflix because of the pricing also..............but a friend of mine says that he pays the 34.99 a month for 4 dvds at a time and gets unlimited rental exchanges plus 2 free movie/game coupons a month because he was one of the first to try the blockbuster online. but for him he rents over 75 movies a month because he burns them. so for some people its still cheaper with blockbuster.

This was a sponsored spot on my facebook newsfeed:

"Try Blockbuster Free!
Use Blockbuster Total Access™ free for one month. That’s right, no due dates or late fees on online rentals."

Um.. yeah.

You can't base a lot on what Wall Street thinks, a lot of it really just a bunch of sheep and the hounds who herd them to slaughter.

Yes, eventually we'll all have broadband and the world will be an entirely different place. I know that I wouldn't be willing to wait days to rent a movie and that's how a majority of the Netflix users do it, but of course, they're really just a tiny fraction of a tiny fraction and for all the noise, they really don't amount to a lot of people.

I know that when I want to rent a movie, I go down to the video rental place. Now, I don't have a Blockbuster for maybe fifty miles and it's one in a Walmart, so I just go to the store of a guy who lives around the corner and I help pay his employees, all of whom live in town. It is somewhat different because my neighbor isn't trying to please hedge fund manipulators or noisemakers in the media, but he's just trying to feed his family and that of his employees. Though, I will also say that I'm modern enough that if he doesn't have a particular title, then and only then will I rent it online.

There is a list of movies that I'd like to see which I keep in my head. Some are categorized as something I'd like to rent in the first couple of weeks, while others are among those that I'd like in a given year and there's also several titles that I call "someday". I'm like the majority of people and I don't live or die by the video release dates. Instead, I look at the television listings and if there's nothing on and I have nothing better to do, or if my wife and I would just like to vegetate, then I go get a movie and I do it by considering our mood. Having two or three movies come in the mail and letting them lie around until I feel like watching them really doesn't appeal to me.

I do own stock in Blockbuster. It's useful to keep in mind what the company's survived already.

-the transition from VHS to DVD was incredibly disruptive and tricky for stores to figure out
-backing out of that broadband delivery experiement with, oh lordie, Enron
-the crushing terms of the spinoff from Viacom
-the removal of late fees destroyed a major revenue stream in an effort to build customer loyalty (I think we know how well that worked)
-starting, in essence, an Internet company without first mover advantage and financing a losing price war to try and get traction
-dealing with the dissent of Icahn and the departure of the CEO.

That being said, it's hard to beat a business model where you sell the same item over and over and over again, then sell the previously viewed DVDs/games left over when the rentals go down. They have at least a small angle on Internet distribution. "Experimenting with new store formats and merchandise" sounds like a hazy business propect - but I wouldn't count them out yet. Thus endeth the rant.

I can't believe that Blockbuster is raising their rates just a month or so after they cut back on what you get with each plan. They've lost this customer!

I received the email from Blockbuster and will be switching to Netflix. Their raising the price for 3 DVD's from $18 to $20 a month while Netflix only charges $17 doesn't work for me anymore. The only reason I stuck it out and paid the extra dollar a month was to receive two free movie rentals coupons for their store every month. However, in the last year I only used it twice so I paid $12 for two rentals. Not worth it. Now all I have to do is move my entire DVD list over. Ugh!
