Last week, an internal AP memo surfaced that told its editors that anything involving Britney Spears “is a big deal.” Editors must have taken that advice to heart: now there’s word the AP has prepared her obituary, just in case. Of course, that’s not unusual for big celebs, but you may find it a little surprising for a 26 year old. “I think one would agree that Britney seems at risk right now,” said AP entertainment editor Jesse Washington.
Update: I couldn’t resist posting this (SNL in 1996)…
Apple this week released a firmware upgrade for the iPhone and iPod Touch that allows uers to set any web page as a “Web Clip” — basically a shortcut icon on the start screen. When users do this, a default thumbnail of your home page will be used as the icon. That’s kinda… lame.
So Apple has made it easy to create a custom icon that will be used. Just fire up Photoshop, start a new document 57 x 57 pixels - and design to your heart’s content. Output the image as a PNG and upload it as “apple-touch-icon.png” in the root folder of your site. The “before” is at right. Keep in mind that the icon will have rounded corners, and the Apple “button” effect overlay.
Revision3 continues to expand its slate of original web shows, and today it debuted “The Digg Reel,” a show featuring the most popular videos on Digg, as well as some of the funnier comments from the Digg community.
And surprise surprise, one of the clips in the first show comes from The Daily Show. “That makes us wonder why Kevin Rose and Jay Adelson would so willingly court legal trouble for themselves,” blogs David Utter in WebProNews. “Viacom’s lawyers are sure to notice the ad placements during The Digg Reel. They already want a billion dollars from Google. Digg doesn’t really need that kind of grief, do they?”
