If it was only clips I could understand why people are objecting, but the commentary adds a lot of value to the original work. We may end up seeing someone sue, but if your video gets dugg, you’re normally pretty thrilled about it because it means that more people would have seen it. If someone does sue, I could see a strong argument to how this would be fair use.

Seems like fair use to me. As long as the Daily show clips are in a clip show format, its no different than The Soup or Best Week Ever

Why can CNN show clips of the Daily Show, or my local morning news show clips from all the late night shows, while an online program can’t do the same?

How long is that clip? I lost interest before she had finished explaining the concept, then I figured that if the clips had been dugg, I probably should just go to the site and pick only those of interest.

Not such a shock.

They can slap a bunch of crap they didn’t produce onto a lightly produced bunch of ‘tween clips, throw some sponsorship info in and call it a day.

Sounds like a win win if you’re them.

Are they risking legal trouble? Probably, but something tells me they aren’t losing any sleep over it.
