		<description>Yeah, ironic, if it comes down that way. There's also a lot of blog buzz about most of the cuts, if any, happening in divisions outside the U.S. -- where the newspaper consortium deal lives. All guesswork until it happens, I suppose.</description>

When a company is more concerned about its stock price and pleasing investors than it is about pleasing customers, that's when it starts a downhill slide. Advertising-funded companies like Yahoo need to please customers to increase or at least maintain the number of eyeballs viewing those ads.  Reducing employee count is only going to make content and service less pleasing, driving customers away and therefore beginning the downward spiral.</description>
