I don't know if you're experiencing the exact same thing, but I've even tried going in through the "forgot" and then after I'm in, I g've gone to the profile and have tried to change my password again, but it fails to validate the password that I just used. I'm glad that I'm not alone, but it is kind of neat that they made an announcement about ending the beta on the same day that my password (which I use pretty much daily) fails to work. I watch it regulary - much better quality than any of the nbc.com or abc.com players. It's easy to use and helps me keep up on Simpsons and King of the Hill.
