‘Digg song girl’ wins Super Bowl ad contest
Don Day February 3rd, 2008
Remember the “Digg song girl” we wrote about in December? Kina Granis came up with a clever song about Digg - which then became a little phenomenon among diggers. Her website - twoweeksfokina.com - asked users to participate in a Doritos/MySpace contest - with the top voter-getter getting a record deal and a music video aired during today’s game.
Kina won.

Really? This is the best? A contest overrun by Digg users? Were they the ones who voted for the best ad as well?

Does this make her Miss Web 2.0?

Sing for me pretty Doritos girl.
I love you long time.
Will you come meet my parents? They live upstairs…

“This song is not available in your viewing area.”
What a joke. Even the ads are DRMed out of existence.

Too bad USA Today’s ad tracker had this one rated lowest of all the Super Bowl ads.
Good day, marginally talented young lady.
I said good day!

I applaud the whole concept, but honestly…that song is pretty pedestrian.

when I saw that commercial, I thought that her song had the sound of something rigged into popularity by internet nerds.

A message from your heart: Quit eating those damn Doritos! Are you trying to kill me?!

Yes, let’s judge a song by the 30 second clip on a doritios commercial. What you can judge is that she had a good and marketable voice and with the right material could be successful.
