YouTube to offer live video
Michael Gay February 29th, 2008
While several sites have started to offer live video streaming capabilities, that feature has been missing from the internet’s largest video site, YouTube. Well, according to video blogger and lifecaster Sarah Meyers from pop17.com, live video is coming to YouTube this year. YouTube says that Google’s resources are making it a reality. (Via TechCrunch)
Meyers offers a quick history of lifecasting, and then interviews YouTube’s Steve Chen for the scoop on live video. (Cool player, huh?)

Should Akamai, Limelight and other CDNs be worried? Would local stations stream their broadcasts on YouTube?

re; streaming local newscasts on YouTube…an awful lot of rights issues standing in your way. Some stations are streaming their newscasts live now (not on YouTube) without regard to this issue, but at a certain inflection point it’s going to get noticed. Not saying there won’t be solutions, but it’s a big gorilla in the room.
Not to mention, not sure anyone on YouTube would watch.

Yeek. I really wanted to learn about this, but I could not watch her perma-smile for one more second. I guess I will take “YouTube is going to stream stuff” and leave it at that.

I could care less and I don’t like singsong girl voices without a song much. I don’t comprenhend them and they are irritating and too quiet. At least a 3.6 of 5 please.
