Four companies considering Digg acquisition

TechCrunch reports that two media companies (that he does not name) and Google and Microsoft are “in heavy due diligence” with Digg. “Digg is prepared to take less than the $300 million Allen & Co. were floating late last year,” writes Michael Arrington. “Google, our source says, will likely bid $200-$225 million, which Digg would likely accept.”

    I think it’s kind of fascinating how more and more, the big tech face-off is between Microsoft and Google. It’s interesting because, for no particular reason, I’ve always paired Google and Apple in my head, and then Microsoft and Yahoo. I guess to me the former represent usability and innovation, and the latter two represent making things more difficult (like the hours that it takes to find a way even to send a tech support email to Yahoo), the spam, the viruses….
