Seriously, as Charles sort of said; A CBS/CNN arrangement has been rumored and sometimes discussed, pretty much since Ted Turner tried to buy the place.

I wonder how many people this actually would affect. Lots of their video already comes from affiliates, and I wonder if there would be embargo issues if network wanted to use CNN video in the evening news.

If they didn't stand by in-market embargoes, would the affiliates keep sending CNN video, knowing it could end up on the CBS evening news?

Well, of course they began to partnerl when Christiane Armanpour and Anderson Cooper started doing pieces for '60 Minutes.'

I think the media insiders will care about this a whole lot more than the news-receiving public.

With CBS cutting people left and right, why don't they start at the top of the salary heap.

First, rid the once proud CBS Evening News of the complete and utter fake, Katie Couric. There is, what, $12 million or more saved annually right there. Well, maybe not. Her astute agent probably has her locked into a golden parachute either way. Katie makes the fourth hour of the present Today Show bearable.

As for Les Moonves's squeeze, Julie Chen, how can anyone take her serious. I am serious. She can't even read news copy that someone else has written for her. She also cannot conduct an interview.

Where is Douglas Edwards when we need him?

Re net lay-offs. You ain’t seen nothing yet. –

” The sad fact is that since the launch of the broadcasters’ $12bn+ DTV service back in Nov. 1998, the percentage of OTA-only homes has fallen steadily from 30% then to about 12% today. With the end of
analog TV broadcasting on February 17, 2009, the percentage could drop to 5% or less by 20102 triggering perhaps the end of our only free TV service. Certainly those that need spectrum for other services and are prepared to pay for it could mount a persuasive case for such a decision by the FCC.

The TV dealers do not promote or display the OTA DTV service in their stores. The big two, Best Buy and Circuit City restrict their in-store DTV displays/promotions to a
cable or satellite subscription TV service. They now have the government subsidized DTV-Analog converter boxes on their store shelves but again with no promotion or meaningful display. The broadcasters must take a bold new initiative if they are to survive. ”

CNN and CBS partnering up in one way or another? This has been rumored for at least 8 years. I will believe it when I see it.
