Video of Tim Robbins’ speech

Cory Bergman April 15th, 2008

Everyone is still talking about Tim Robbins’ brash keynote speech yesterday, which took broadcasters to task for voyeuristic, gossipy content, among other things. While it was probably a strategic mistake for the NAB to book Robbins in the first place, personally, I enjoyed it. I live-blogged it while Steve Safran shot it all on his Flip phone right here.

that video is great considering it’s shot on a $100 piece of equipment.

you’re right about the speech being something “everyone is talking about”… huffpo has it word for word as a blog post today.

I was there. I was skeptical at first, but he said some very compelling things and had the audience agreeing with him. Regardless of political views - this was the audience that needed to hear regardless of profits, broadcasters have moral obligations to the audience as well.
