I just tried Spectra, and it’s uselessly cool. It’s not as convenient as any other news reader, it’s slightly slow, I can’t click on any story I WANT, I need to go to the category, but it’s VERY visually appealing.

Charles … if speed is what you want, click on “orbital settings” (lower right) and ramp up the velocity with the slider. then click “save to newscollector” for the tiles you want to read — that lines them up nicely in a list you can ratchet through pretty quickly. UseFUL-ly cool !

I agree - I couldn’t click on the particular story I wanted, which I thought at first was a problem with my computer (Mac). If not, I recommend enabling that feature. Otherwise it’s still a linear experience. I like the idea of being able to “pick stories out of the sky.” Cool beta.
