Scripps shares clips with YouTube

Cory Bergman May 18th, 2008

Scripps Networks is beginning to distribute video of some of its most popular shows under a partnership with YouTube (take a look at HGTV’s section here). Similar to the CBS revenue-share deal, Scripps can sell its own ads on YouTube.

When you have a full sized ad going on over on the right it IS rather piggish to have this INTRUSION pop up on you in the clip pane. WE SEE THAT AD, people. I’m still not buying a ticket to Mike Myers no matter how many times he sneaks in, HINT. Do I know how to save Flash files from YouTube? No, I’d rather see Alice Cooper!

I hope they also do a partnership with RedLasso, where I can not only share clips of copyrighted content, I can CREATE those clips.

Not sure of all the details behind the deal, but Scripps has also begun syndicating content to WorldNow and its affiliates. Looks like a substantial interactive push by Scripps to get its content out to the masses.

Good for Scripps! I’m all for partnerships with YouTube. As long as you’re maintaining your IP rights and revenues, unbundling and distributing is the way to go!

Partnership with YouTube are for idiots. First of all the quality of the video is DEPRESSING: a product delivering such video quality in the real world would never leave the labs. Second, thre is no need for distribution on the web: now that content provider can distribute themselves after years of slavery with the cable operators, guess what? they lock themselves in other distribution deals. And why? Because they do not understand the users and their audience. Their ignorance and incapacity to reach the masses forces them to find other ways to deliver their content (if you really want to call that “content”.)

I can’t even WATCH You Tube right now, Yahoo’s video player was simply cutting the menu off short without the ability to scroll it and all Yahoo can do is tell me to clear my stupid cache and I’m still trying to get this maching to work with it. Iuninstalled Flash and am going to clean out cobwebs.

PS Not like I should care but WMV porn is acting stupid even. Maybe I had a bad rollback, and I only have one clip on You Tube anyway (it’s my content too).
