WeatherPlus.com has a new and improved look, but it’s a site that’s future some are forecasting as foggy with the likely deal by NBCU to purchase Weather Channel and weather.com. The new WeatherPlus.com has a ton of content beyond weather, but the focus on the homepage is the important weather. My favorite feature is the graphical hourly outlook that forecasts conditions on a line graph. What are your thoughts? Will this new look give weather.com some needed competition?
Update: Brian Stelter in the New York Times analyzes the impact of the potential Weather Channel acquisition at NBC Universal. “We believe Weather Plus would survive in some way online, on-air or in a hybrid,” said Marci Burdick, an executive at Schurz Communications who recently ended her term on the NBC affiliate board. “We believe there’s equity in what the affiliates bring to the Weather Plus model.”
