Rethinking TV/web brands at Promax

Posted by Cory Bergman on June 18, 2008

You have to wonder how many TV promotion/marketing directors’ heads exploded after Steve Safran gave this presentation at Promax today? Good stuff, and similar to Gordon Borrell’s take, which we posted yesterday.

Even at stations that have had some success on the web, trying to get everyone to understand that strong branding is often a detriment to a good design isn’t any easier to do.

Is it just me, or does this sound a little bit like going back to the mid-90′s and the dreaded words “local portal”?

i think it’s fair to say that Steve Safran gives a good rebuttal to the previous comment if one simply clicks on kirk varner’s name.

I’m only suggesting exactly what my good friend Kirk Varner is doing.

    Check out WTNH’s

    BeforeYouBuy (dot) TV.
Or HuskiesAllAccess (dot) Com, their excellent site on UConn sports.

Both good sites. Both good brands.

If it’s good enough for Kirk, it’s good enough for me.

well, as the wiz said in the land of oz “that’s a horse of a different color”.

kirk’s wtnh, as a LIN station, should know that wood tv is the proud owner of thegrandrapidschannel(dot)com… even forwards there at last check.

    click tdc.

    have a great weekend!
