Editor and Publisher reports the Washington Post will join their print and online newsroom into one. Currently they are in two different buildings. The Post’s new executive editor, Marcus Brauchli, has experience merging print and online newsrooms. He did the same at the Wall Street Journal as the managing editor.
It’s interesting that it’s taken the Post this long to merge the newsrooms. While there are advantages to not being tied down with the “old media†and as the Post is about to learn it can be a major cultural change, most newsrooms have realized that it’s not very cost effective to pay two different groups of people to do almost the exact same thing.
