I woke up with the horrible news about the passing of Tony Snow. I loved watching Tony Snow respond to the press with a cool head, and always under control, while under political pressure. I am just in shock that we have lost another prominent political figure, besides the hundreds or thousands that die on a yearly basis due to disease. Cancer, heart disease, diabetes, what is going in this world ? Is mother nature fighting back ?

What a year for celebrity deaths.

    RIP, Tony Snow.

I accept Tony Snow was a “figure” in the business.

Briefly a broadcaster and more briefly a press secretary.

And a nice guy. No question.

But the media frenzy over the death that came on the same day as DeBakey who actually did something for humanity even and Bobby Mercer who actually did something we could all relish makes me wonder where our center and our priorities are.

Link in my name above … one of his last public speeches was to be at Eastern Washington University near Spokane back in Spokane.

He fell ill the night before, but not before giving a radio interview with our news talk radio station. Coincidentally the night he fell ill he also gave an interview on CNN when it was announced he was joining their staff.

” I am just in shock that we have lost another prominent political figure, besides the hundreds or thousands that die on a yearly basis due to disease. ”

This is just a dumb thing to say.

    Everyone dies, ‘prominent’ or not.

Just because you are more aware fo their detahs, does not mean there’s suddenly a proliferation of celebrity deaths.

BRINK–It’s not that dumb. It’s some psychological cue humans seize upon when their favorite people die and they feel more vulnerable. Actually and statistically since famous people’s death are far more prominent than others passing when a few very large or prominent ones7un pass a connection is synchronistically drawn and the loss that was amplified suggests such a notion.

It’s not really true and prominent people die at the rate of anyone else…once, and for good too.
