Veoh targets video ads on viewing patterns

Cory Bergman July 14th, 2008

If you watch a few clips on Veoh, you’ll be classified in one of nine consumer segments, including action videos, cars, pop culture, sci fi, anime and family. Ads are then served accordingly. Says TechCrunch, “The company claims that during the beta, ads that were behaviorally targeted performed twice as good as ads that were not.” The trick, of course, is getting advertisers to buy into user-generated fare. But this same methodology could be applied across non-UGC sites, as well.
